Fire Marshal Paul Findley

Paul Findley is currently the Fire Marshal and Public Information Officer for the City of Tyler Fire Department. Having spent the last 23 years in the fire service, he holds certifications as a Master Firefighter, Master Fire Inspector, Master Arson Investigator, and Fire Instructor with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. He is also licensed as a Master Peace Officer, with over 14 years in law enforcement. Fire Marshal Findley has maintained his Paramedic license since the mid-1990s. 


As Fire Marshal, he oversees the Prevention Division, which also encompasses the hiring and background investigation of new applicants to the Department, as well as performing development and plans review for construction projects in the City. Certified as a Black Belt in the City’s Lean Six Sigma Program, Findley serves on the City’s Performance Excellence Program team. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Management, and is currently working on his Master of Science in Leadership with an emphasis in Disaster Preparedness and Executive Fire Leadership. 


Findley is a graduate of the Texas Fire Chiefs Academy, earning the Chief Fire Executive designation and is also a member of the Texas Fire Chief’s Association, International Fire Chief’s Association, Texas Advisory Council on Arson, and the Texas Fire Marshals Association, where he serves on both the Legislative and Code & Technical Committees. Findley is currently attending the National Fire Academy’s 4-year Executive Fire Officer Program in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and expects to graduate with his Masters degree and EFO credential in the summer of 2017.
