Paul Findley is currently the Fire Marshal and Public Information Officer for the City of Tyler Fire Department. Having spent the last 24 years in the fire service, he holds certifications as a Master Firefighter, Master Fire Inspector, Master Arson Investigator, and Fire Instructor with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. He is also licensed as a Master Peace Officer, with over 15 years in law enforcement. Fire Marshal Findley has maintained his Paramedic license since the mid-1990s.
As Fire Marshal, he oversees the Fire Prevention Bureau, which also encompasses fire and life safety inspections, investigations, community risk reduction initiatives, and development/plans review for construction projects in the City. Findley also serves as the department's Public Information Officer. Certified as a Black Belt in the City’s Lean Six Sigma Program, Findley serves on the City’s Performance Excellence Program team. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and a Master of Science Degree, with an emphasis in Disaster Preparedness and Executive Fire Leadership.
Findley is a graduate of the Texas Fire Chiefs Academy, earning the Chief Fire Executive designation and is also a member of the Texas Fire Chief’s Association, International Fire Chief’s Association, Texas Advisory Council on Arson, and the Texas Fire Marshals Association, where he serves on the Legislative Committee, Code & Technical Committee, and Co-Chair of the Professional Trades Committee. Findley is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland where he obtained the EFO credential following four years of study and research.
