Mission Statement

The mission of the Tyler Fire Marshal’s Office is to protect the lives and property of the citizens of Tyler through the enforcement of fire and life safety codes, investigation of complaints regarding hazardous conditions, educational outreach regarding the dangers of fire, abating unsafe structures, determining the cause and origin of fires within the City of Tyler, and actively pursuing the criminal investigation of those responsible for the crime of arson.




Prevention tips:

  • Install a smoke alarm on every floor of your home, even the basement.
  • Install a smoke alarm outside every sleeping area. Ideally, install smoke alarms in every sleeping area, too.
  • Replace smoke alarms after 10 years.

About Us
The Tyler Fire Marshal's Office is comprised of specially trained personnel that carry multiple certifications and licenses with the State of Texas to carry out its critical functions.  The Division is led by the Fire Marshal, along with two Assistant Fire Marshals, each of which has specific duties within the Division.  Additionally, there is one Deputy Fire Marshal on each of the three Suppression shifts that carries out safety inspection and investigative functions within the Division.
